Maybe rather than shouting at a user for using the wrong terminology you could point them to the terminology that you feel is correct. This site wants to be open and welcoming to those that are starting out, not a site where people are shunned for using the wrong language.

I'd say the o/p is looking to be a switch where they are for the most part the dominant part, but, at the same time wish to allow space for exploration.
