Discussing Alternative Sexual Preferences

I'm interested in knowing whether most folks on the forum meet people who are into kinky things through specialized venues. If you don't, how do you handle discussing your preferences with a new friend who may or may not indulge in the lifestyle?

Most people i meet are not from the "lifestyle". My friends basically all know about my sexual preferences. And if the subject of a conversation is getting in this direction with someone i don't know i also don't hide it. Of course it depends a bit on the person i am talking with.

I say, you never really know until you ask. Ithink that you might want to take the subtle route though. Don't just come out and ask that question because you may offend them especially if you just met them.
