I've gotten this question at least 7 or 8 times. So I thought I'd post for those who are curious.

Chemical play is a form of Sensation Play which involved the use of mild irritants to create sensation. Basically it's using things that react with the body like menthol and capsaicin and putting them on places that really react to the body! In short putting things like toothpaste, hot sauce or icy-hot on your clit, nipple, cockhead or ass-hole.

It's safe within reason bearing in mind that like all things some people react more severely than others. If you've never tried something before, try it on the back of your wrist to make sure there are no allergic reactions before moving on to more fun locales. Obviously allergic re-actions not withstanding it causes some irritation and shouldn't be over indulged.

Personally I love how it makes my clit extra sensitive. It makes everything zero into where it's been applied.

You may have done it before and never called it that. I know a lot of people have played with toothpaste.

If you've never done it here's a description of what toothpaste does that I totally stole from http://female-orgasm-denial.tumblr.com/:

The ingredients that make toothpaste feel ‘cool’ in your mouth, whether mint or otherwise, have the effect of drawing blood to the surface (the same way more extreme options like menthol does) and then first making it feel cold followed by a mild burning sensation. Your body reacts to this by trying to flush away the ‘irritant’ and you get very wet, very fast, which then reactivates the toothpaste and makes it burn some more.

It’s pretty safe (it’s designed to go in your mouth, after all) however lots of toothpastes also have a ‘grit’ in them for whitening and that’s like getting extra fine sand in your pussy if you’re not careful. So rinse well or use the gel type that doesn’t have that, or be a little masochistic slut and upgrade to some kind of menthol like deep heat or icy hot. Those feel like you’re on fire.

As with anything like this, test it on a little area first, especially if you tend to react to skin irritants.

If you haven't and are interested in trying I'd suggest starting with something like toothpaste or Vick's VapoRub. One caution once it's absorbed by the skin, you pretty much have to wait it out.

My personal opinion on which is the most effective (keep in mind my medium or mild might be intense to you):

  • Toothpaste - Mild
    Vick's VapoRub - Mild
    Tiger Balm - Medium
    Tabasco - Intense/painful
    Icy Hot - Intense/painful
    Ginger - Intense/painful

Thanks for a well written and informative post.

I know there are plenty of folks out there who've tried this type of thing so any advice, tips, cautionary tales etc would be great to see.
