You may want to try a larger ring. It took me a bit to find the right size that works.
But as for the answer to the question, I am usually locked for at least a week and the longest was several weeks. It is hard, but I have no choice. But I can say the orgasm after is amazing!

You will have to get used to it. I began stretching my scrotum with two fingers and pulling it through. It should alleviate some tension. Also, a hot shower looses the scrotum. May help.
