Has this happened to you? You come home from work, your tired and generally pissed off because the traffic makes the ride home ruin the enjoyment of finishing a days work. Then there's a package in front of your door addressed to you, with no return address. First thought I had was - I didn't order anything. Where did this come from? Great, now I get another job to do - figure out what this all about. Once inside, I sit down and open it. A hard cover book "How to grow World Record Tomatoes". I have no need to grow tomatoes. The label on the box says it's from Amazon. So Pick up the phone and call their 'Customer Service' number. The rep that answered was nice, polite etc. I explained what happened and asked I should return it to Amazon. Her answer 'If you want you can, but we don't care if you just keep it' My reply: 'Am I going to be billed for this book I didn't order? Rep: 'What's the Amazon order number?' I gave it to her, a few minutes later. 'Yes I see you didn't order it, so you won't be billed for it. My advise is to just enjoy it, throw it out and forget all about it and have a nice day' My reply: ' OK. bye'. And that was the end of that, or so I thought.

Credit card bill arrives a few days later. "Amazon item ....... $29.92'. I call 'Customer Service' ME: WTF is this charge for $29.92? I called about it before and the rep said 'there was no charge I can keep it or toss it' Rep2: 'Ah ha! I see the order was posted after the call you made the first time. I'll get rid of it and your credit card will be credited' Me: 'Thank You' bye.

I waited an hour. Then I called the Credit Card company 'Customer Service' - asked them to check the days charges especially within the last couple of hours. They assured me there was a credit applied for $-29.92 from Amazon.
'Thank You' bye.

All I could think of was how I had to spend my time on the phone fixing a problem had nothing to with creating.

That all happened last week.

Last night when I got home. Guess what? There was a package on my doorstep from Amazon - addressed to me - that I did not order. This time I got a Purple Dildo. Needless to say the conversation with the Amazon Customer Service Girl was interesting. At one point I could hear a bit of laughing in the background - but I was holding back my laughter too. She actually told me 'Use it or throw it away - it's up to me' Me, being the wise ass I am said 'Right now, or should I wait till I'm off the phone?' She replied 'Up to you, sir. Have a nice day'. and she disconnected.

I'll call the Credit Card company later - I have a difficult decision to make.

Haven't really decided yet. I was sent a link to 4 erotic stories after I asked the sender to pick 4 stories they felt expressed their 'desires'. Been busy reading them and trying to wrap my head around what they are intended 'prove'. That was last week, What a can of worms that has become. back and forth emails. 'Who do you identify with in the 1st story?' The reply I get 'I haven't finished reading it'. WTF Sends me a link and hasn't read it ? How am I supposed to make any sense out of that? Errr..

My big purple dilemma! I did call the Credit Card company - It was charged to my credit card. I had them cancel that card and re-issue me another one. Apparently someone has been using my card - not any more. At some point I'm going to have to get some time and some lube and also build up some courage to actually use it or maybe just look at it and think about it as I have been doing for a while. Got any suggestions?

Someone is using your credit card and sends packages to your address?
Sounds like someone is messing with your Amazon account (or maybe your email), not your credit card, so you might receive future "gifts".
Change password and check if the recovery email is yours maybe, or if anything was changed in your Amazon account (dunno, I don't use Amazon, could you have saved your card details for future purchases?).

Safe rule: never use your email password in any website. Someone cracks a poor site, gets your email and that site password, checks if your email has the same password then mocks with your web life. Also better change your email password.

Anyway I use paypal, is safer to complain.

BTW: I got a gift from Revolut today. I was back from vacation and it just thought 8 people meal was not cashed correctly or something so I got an unexpected big refund. Funny that everyone at the table payed me in cash and I payed the bill with my card.
I don't know if I should google that restaurant to thank their staff four our free meal.

Thanks for advise. I checked with Amazon and it was definitively a credit card purchase . Credit Card company re-issued the card and removed the charges. No other charges have occurred - yet. Amazon basically told me keep whatever it is, they don't care if I send it back or not. There's a bunch of scams out there - I may have fallen for one. At least it was quickly resolved.

I had a similar chat with a friend today:
If someone wants to hack your life then he only needs your email password. That's what I have pointed out: if you have the same password on your email and on Amazon then consider changing your email password first, because accessing your email means full access to Amazon aswell and to everything you do.

It is recommended you use an unique password on your email and another password for everything else.

Guess what I got in the mail today? The credit card company wants me to sign a letter that states I didn't order the stuff. Attached to it is an unreadable copy of what appears to be a micro-printed transaction log from the seller. I can't read it. But I know it's a transaction log just from the formatting. Now I have to sign THEIR paper form, scan it , and email it back to them. (It was dated the 18th - I received it via snail mail on the 23rd). Not bad it only took a month for them to respond to my initial call to their customer service. No doubt they want it as fast as possible, hence them requesting I scan and email it.
