Today we had an incident where a user account was hacked and used by a spambot. This isn't the first time, it has happened plenty of times before however this was unusual as it was the account of an active and verified member.
The bot changed the user avatar and banner as well as other profile information including the password and registered email making it impossible for the actual user to recover without staff intervention.
The most likely way this account was hacked is the user had a commonly used password or was using the same password across multiple sites.
So please: if you have an easily guessed password or are using one you have used on other kink or porn sites etc change it today!
