get an empty milk jug and tie off the key to some string and dangle it into the jug about half way... then fill with water and put in freezer. That'll keep you from your key
The frozen key idea is a real good one.
A slightly more daring one would be to put the keys in an envelope & mail them to yourself. That way, they'll be completely unattainable for a few days guaranteed.

but if u do either one, to be sure you are true to yourself do it with both keys or mail 1 and freeze 1
