Now I'm sure the more experienced among us know that open nipple bras are an actual thing you can buy from specialty fetish wear suppliers, however they aren't cheap. Fear not, the doctor has your back and is here to help you make your own!

There are a few different styles of open nipple bras ranging from large openings of around 35mm (1 1/2") down to just big enough for the actual nipple size at around 12mm (1/2"). The effects of the various sizes is different with the smaller hole suited to those with largish and very erect nipples, the larger sizes are better for those whose nipple need a little more coaxing to make a show.
Regardless of type they serve a few purposes, firstly they allow you to wear a bra and still show off your super perky nips through a tight t-shirt or similar. They also allow for the nipples to rub on the inside of looser clothing as you move around which is always fun.

To make a good open nipple bra you need a bra that fits really well tending towards being slightly too tight so the nips really get pressed out the holes. This makes it a great DIY use for some older bras you may have around that have got to the too tight stage. If you don't have any like that a visit to your local thrift shop will score you a bunch of cheap ones to play around with.

Now onto the actual modification.
The tricky bit is making sure the holes line up correctly with your nipples, so the easy solution is to put the bra on and make sure its sitting in the best position for wearing. Now use a fine tip marker pen (like a Sharpie) and outline your nipples, keep the line tight to the shape so when you cut it out the line is cut out too. Remove the bra and use a sharp craft knife on a cutting board to carefully cut out a neat circle for each. If you're a sewer then you can look at edging the hole but in general I've found they don't fray too badly. Now pop it on and take it for a test drive.

One tip, always start smaller than you think you want the holes, the stretch in materials will often open them up much wider and while you can always cut out more if the hole isn't big enough, if it's too big you can't make it smaller again.

So please, if this sounds like fun to you have a go! It really is about the easiest DIY kink project you're likely to find and is a lot of fun to wear.
