There are stories going around that Kik messenger is going to be shut down

Don't know what date it is closing, but if true, it is not looking good......

Without kik a lot of threads on here will die. Not sure what alternatives there are to use.

"Kik Interactive CEO Ted Livingston announced today that the company is shutting down Kik Messenger to focus on its cryptocurrency Kin, the target of a lawsuit filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company’s team will be reduced to 19 people, a reduction that will affect over 100 employees, as it focuses on converting more Kin users into buyers."

Basically the CEO's side project in cryptocurrency got him in trouble with the federal government and he's decided to close Kik messenger to shore up enough money to pay for his lawyers.

Don't worry the messenger space is vast, the problem with most messengers is they use your phone number. An alternative will show up quickly. As far as how soon this is happening I wouldn't leave any of my contacts on Kik past Friday to be safe.
