How do you make a good ice release lock?

Hi,

A quick question if i may please: How do you make a good ice release lock?

i tried the other day simply freezing a key in ice. i attached cotton so that i could attempt to centre the key in the ice cube tray.

But i failed miserably and by the time the ice cube tray came out of the freezer the key had frozen right up against the side of the ice cube.

Any advice would be appreciated please around either or both of: -

• How to centre a key in ice
• Alternative ice release methods

I did one once I used a semi large tub full of water. I tied the key to a pencil so the key was in the canter of the tub and water then placed in freezer for a day. then the next day I tied it to a tree branch at the other end of my garden. went back to house took my cloths off put them in side locked door with spare key and posted it though letter box so now I was naked waiting on ice melting I also had to edge 5 times.
